Illusions

I've decided that it's absolutely necessary to eat a large dinner prior to my night classes. Staying awake in neuroscience last Wednesday was certainly a challenge. This means a change to my saving money plan of only spending on two days a week to spending any day of the week with a limit of $20, which I probably won't reach anyways, so...Yeah, neuroscience that night wasn't fun at all. I was pretty close to like a mental breakdown or something too, from being uber paranoid about failing the course due to those damn brain teasers, which should not be worth 15% of our mark. 5% would be more understandable...After the first one that night (had us figuring out why it made sense for a term to be in the denominator of the equation...), I couldn't focus at all for a bit, but then stress slowly dissipated and went away almost completely when the second one he gave us was a lot easier.

I did the Cootes field trip assignment for Ecology on Friday with Christine and Krisna. It was a good time overall, as we didn't do the guided tour and went on the trails ourselves. I was a little disappointed we didn't see anything cool, like flying squirrels and coyotes (we had a list of animals/plants found there). On the way back, we decided to be intense and run along the trail like Indiana Jones. Okay, maybe only I saw it like that, but we did go faster.

I hate not being able to be in my room because my mom wants to watch TV shows on my computer...It's fine I guess, but I just would prefer to sit at my desk to read.

I didn't get all the stuff I wanted to get done this weekend, which means it's going to be a busy week, assuming I'm productive. Sleep is such a waste of time...only because it prevents me from doing work.

Speaking of sleep, I've been going to bed super early lately. I think it was Friday that I went to bed just after 8:00. That's Dave Edge early, or even earlier I think. I've also been having some pretty intense dreams too. I remember having a lion or some sort of giant cat that was after me in a zoo/amusement park. Then, there was one where I had to investigate some kid's room because he got kidnapped or killed or something, and it involved some sort of spirit. There was one where I had before, except this time is themed differently. Pretty much, there's like a intense competition involving a lot of random people I know, and there's several tasks to complete. The whole thing is a race with different parts to it. Anyways, the one I had like last night or the night before was Disney-themed, and one of the tasks involved listing all the characters that we could find in the area. I guess I thought I was being clever in the dream by going around the perimeter only to find no entrances, forcing me to scale the wall. The other competition dreams I've had before were much more intense then this, sometimes involving jungle mazes with creatures and mechanized stairs/floating steps.

New episode of Smallville and Supernatural premiered on Thursday. Smallville seems to be heading off into the right direction even though the episode was full of nonsense. At least Clark's at the Daily Planet now. Yeah, somehow a college drop-out with no experience other than writing for his high school paper managed to get a job at one of the biggest newspapers in the country. He even got his own desk and everything too. If only the real world worked like that...Supernatural was spectacular as usual. It was just amazing. You know what else is amazing? The chocolate banana drink that Kelly made me yesterday.

Scramble

I've fallen completely behind on my blogging, but I just haven't had the time to do it. Actually, that's a lie. I have time to do it, but I'm just too lazy to usually. So, this entry is going to be pretty random and jumbled around.

So, I'm pretty much back in school mode now. It's been a busy time, and it's only going to get busier with upcoming essays, labs, and in a few more weeks, midterms. A lot of my free time is spent in Mills, which funnily enough was library I didn't like going to last year, but Wainman was right when he said the noisiness is just background noise that you tune out. There's also nice and quiet corners on the third floor too if I ever feel the need to have absolute silence. I'm getting a lot of reading done, but I don't know how effective my studying is this year though. It's certainly a lot more than what I did last year, but I guess we'll see.

Classes are going okay. I like my Shakespeare prof a lot, even though we're not really analyzing the play super in-depth like she said we were. We were supposed to look for our group members (which aren't even for anything really) last week, but it was just a mad scramble and so chaotic that I just left. I really don't know how she thought it would be possible to find three people in a class of over 200. Botany's going well too. Well, I have my first lab tomorrow for it. Ecology is kind of blah right now, but I like the prof, and I have it with Christine. Neuroscience is definitely not going to be fun or easy at all...And Cultural Studies, which I cannot read for really. This is the one class I'm willing to put off reading for right now until the last minute, and it's probably my least favorite right now too, but I have it with Tony...

I had a complete total "durr" moment last week. It was the first class for neuroscience, which I have at 7:00, and I totally went to the wrong room without thinking. I even checked earlier in the day to see where it was, but somehow I ended up in Chester New Hall instead of Togo Salmon.

I like running into people I know on campus. It doesn't happen too often for me, but it's nice when I do...

Work has been pretty good. The last couple of setups haven't been too bad at all. I work again tomorrow, where I only have an hour and a half for it, so I hope it's not a huge setup. I'm also getting used to the tables (not the giant round ones), although I usually just drag them across the floor than carry them. It's just easier that way...

Volunteering has been pretty decent too. I think my goal is to try and get to know the staff there better. I feel like I don't do it enough though, which is why I was hoping to find something else at the volunteer fair today at Mac. Unfortunately, nothing I was interested in fits my timetable. Plus, I'm still hoping to get the Co-editor job for the Frontline, but I'm thinking it'll be tough since I have no experience in any of the programs they use...I'm also going to to apply for Junior Editor for the Meducator, so hopefully I get one of those. Otherwise, I'll just write articles for them I guess...I'm still a little annoyed I couldn't join any of the clubs/instructional classes I wanted to because of my timetable. Curse night classes...

I met up with Kelly last Friday at Coffee Culture, and we dueled again on Mario Bros. I think my favorite part was when she thought she was so clever hiding in her Koopa shell seemingly invincible, but I ground-stomped and owned her. It was a good time.

Dave, Brianna, and Wainman were home for the weekend, and I saw them on the Friday night for a bit at Brianna's house. I'm glad they're enjoying their university/college life so far.

Oh yeah, I worked both nights on the weekend, with Saturday being pointless because it was only around 2 hours that I was there. Sunday, I got there really early, and...I sat in the library reading for over 4 hours. Literally. It's not like I was just on my laptop the entire time and not reading. I did have MSN on, but hardly anyone ever talks to me anyways, so it wasn't a big distraction at all. Suffice to say, it got really boring. There were three of us that night for work, which was completely unnecessary for the setup, but I'm getting paid for it, so...

My TV shows starts this week! Well, all except Heroes, which is next week. House was tonight, which I had to watch at 11 (I totally stopped doing this entry to go watch it). It didn't feel like a season premiere, but it was a good start nonetheless.

I've been okay with the whole spending money on food thing too (except for earlier when I broke a $20 to get a smoothie, which wasn't that great...). So far, I've been bringing my lunch instead of buying it, so that's good. I've also been exercising in the morning before I leave, which actually makes me not tired for my morning class so I should have been doing it all along last year...

So, all in all, things are going well-ish. Well, I think my horoscope on Facebook (new Facebook is crap by the way, but whatever) some time ago was a good description. It said something along the lines of me making changes in areas, but not focussing on other ones, which I think is true or was true, or will be true.

And now, I should finish doing the stuff I need to finish doing for school and not get enough sleep, for I have to be up early in order to make my Cultural Studies tutorial.

Separate

So, school's definitely back in session. I was actually feeling kind of stressed out the other day even though I had at the time only had one day of classes. Then I realized that I was being silly...

Yesterday was annoying actually. I was told to go home first after my class because my dad wanted to use the car, but then he didn't need it, so I pretty much wasted reading time, only because I can't do work at home at all. It's dumb, but I just can't get anything done here. For example, I'm updating on here from home right now. Then I volunteered in day surgery for the first time in two weeks due to Labour Day.

I ran into Rachel today, and we had a nice catch-up. I hadn't seen her in the longest time. We were supposed to have lunch along with Rose a while ago, but nothing ever came of it. It's just nice seeing people you haven't seen and seeing what they're up to. Although, it sucks how some people disappear from your life completely, and it's only by chance that you ever see them again. On the other hand, if people were really friends, then they'll be in each others' lives.

I must go to sleep now...Actually, the past two nights I've gone to bed around 9:00, 9:30. Hooray for irregular sleeping patterns.

Plants

I went to Mac around 12 yesterday so I could start reading stuff for my classes. To be specific, I finished the first two acts of Midsummer Night's Dream and part of the first chapter for botany. Needless to say, I enjoyed reading the play more...I went to work at 3:00, which is why I had to go to Mac in the first place. It was a really boring set-up as it involved setting up 200 chairs mostly. Then later that night I went over to Jimmy's, and we played some Smash Bros. Brawl. It's such an epic game...

I didn't do much today. It was just grocery shopping and more reading. Apparently, perfect flowers are bisexual...

First Day Again and Turtle Power

Yesterday was the first day of classes, and boy was it boring. Yep. All that happened was the going through of course outlines. It sounds like my two English classes are going to be pretty lax though. Botany (actually Plant Biodiversity, but it's botany.....) sounds like it's going to be pretty annoying though. I had the professor last year, and it seems that all her annoying traits are still there. Then again, it could be fine. Hopefully she will continue to use the overhead and not write anything, as her handwriting is largely illegible. I hung out with Laura last night; another good time at William's.

I had today off, as my lab for ecology doesn't start yet for another week or two. So, I hung out with Kelly. Once again, we went to several places including Coffee Culture, the Food Basics plaza on King George, and the mall. We dueled on New Super Mario Bros. with great enthusiasm, so people around us probably thought we were crazy. I've more or less mastered the Koopa or turtle power-up. There was a turtle at the pet store that actually paid attention to me. I really wanted to take him home, but I can't spend the money on a turtle right now unfortunately...
