Volunteer

It's Thursday, which means volunteering at the hospital in the afternoon in Transport. I got a total of two calls in the three hours I was there, but Debbie (volunteer coordinator) found something for me to do so it wasn't as boring. I put a bunch of old applications in alpha-order and then filed them.

I guess I'll talk a bit about volunteering there. It started in 2005 when the student coordinator assistant type person came to our school and gave a presentation about volunteering at the hospital. I started out in Health Records, which I found really boring and pointless because all I did was tidy up the tall shelves of documents, which became messy again by my next shift. It got better there though when I started microfilming and dating documents. I remember being down there one time and was asked to go to Ambulatory Care because they were busy and short on volunteers. I did that another time too, and it was definitely better. I did Imaging for a while too, and that was decent, but I usually left early because there was never anything to do. I didn't really like pushing the big stretchers though. I kept stopping because of school, but then I went back this summer and now I'm in Day Surgery doing discharges usually and Transport, which is only until the end of summer.

I headed off to McMaster after that and sat in Thode until it was time for my exam. It didn't really go that well, but it's all finished now. I've got three weeks until regular school. I noticed another spot in the grass where a spacecraft landed. There wasn't a rock, so it must have been invisible this time.
